Chesapeake Pilsner wins Bronze at the Malt Cup Awards!
As elusive as the Hellbender and as rare as the Pegasus, our Nuclear Seahorse is a hazy celebration of all things hoppy. Harnessing its power from local barley, toasted oats, and new school American hops, this unique Hazy emerges from the depths with aromas of white grapes, floral tea, and ripe tangerine. This radioactive sea puppy is so smoothly hoppy its practically hazardous material.

Happy Women’s History Month!
Thank you to the many women who incorporated Riverbend craft malt into their recipes in celebration. It was exciting to see Riverbend go into so many Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day brews across the Southeast. Here are a few beers to track down, made in support of Pink Boots Society.

Craft malt makes the difference, especially when it comes to beer and spirits competitions. Congratulations are in order to two of our customers for some recent big wins.
Our friends at Crooked Can Brewing in Orlando cleaned up at the Best Florida Beer Championship with five medals. Among the winners was the Common Ground California Common that Crooked Can made to celebrate our 10 Year Harvest.
New Belgium’s Old Tuffy Premium Lager made in collaboration with North Carolina State University continues to make headlines. A portion of sales of this light lager supports the university’s fermentation sciences program. According to New Belgium’s COO Joe Davis, using our malt in this beer deepens the “connection with the university and the state.”

In episode 95 of the Good Beer Matters podcast, our very own Brent and Jesse Bussard of the Craft Maltsters Guild had the opportunity to dive into the importance of craft malt in craft beer production with host Jeremy Storton.
Jesse and Brent touched on how important community and connection were in getting interested in craft. Brent described that “ethos” as key in his decision to get started.
Riverbend Malt House was honored by the Craft Maltsters Guild with a bronze Malt Cup award for its Chesapeake Pilsner malt. The award was presented at the 2022 Craft Malt Conference.
2022 marks the fourth year of this prestigious awards program— often called the Great American Beer Festival® or the Oscars® of craft malt– that recognizes craft maltsters for the quality and consistency of their malt varieties. The program awards medals for three categories– Pilsen,
